On Oct. 12, 2017, the City of Wilsonville Parks and Recreation Advisory Board awarded grants to support community programs with funding from the City’s Opportunity Grant program. Three local organizations were awarded $12,355 in grants:
- Wilsonville Community Seniors, Inc. for their support of "Wilsonville Piecemakers": $7,355
- Wilsonville High School for auditorium lighting system: $3,000
- I-5 Connection Chorus for support of the community chorus program: $2,000
The Opportunity Grant program is funded by the City’s general fund to assist local individuals and organizations that further educational or artistic opportunities; encourage and foster diversity; foster advances in education, art or community leadership; or involve youth or elderly population in community activities. A total of $25,000 is made available each year, with application deadlines in September and March, and grant awards made the following month.
