October Quilt Sale at the Wilsonville Public Library
Our Artist of the Month is local quilter Martha H. Aaron. During the month of October, Martha's quilts will be on display in our art gallery, and available for sale. All proceeds from the sale will go to the Wilsonville Friends of the Library and the Wilsonville Public Library Foundation.
Here is Martha in her own words:
I started quilting 45 years ago, an enduring passion that has changed and evolved over the decades.
Originally my quilts were gifts to friends and family. Some were wall art in my office at various jobs and became gifts to coworkers when I moved to a new job or office.
Since retiring I have found new purpose in life making quilts to benefit the Wilsonville Friends of the Library and most recently also to donate to Cares Northwest for foster children and children in need of a quilted hug.
My latest styles include inspirations from Pacific Northwest Native American totems, a delightful range of thread colors and types (iridescent, metallic, blends), variations on tessellating patterns (e.g. Tess’s Garden), smaller sizes (e.g. Sue & Sam - I think there should be a lifetime limit on how many king-sized quilts one brings into the world), and free-motion quilting (e.g. My First Library).
The quilts will be on display and on sale until November 1, 2023.
