The Wilsonville Library is excited to bring back FREE STEAM classes, activities & events for kids in Summer 2026!
OMSI classes require registration and have limited age and class size. Please see below for registration dates.
Registration is completed through the portal Sign Up Genius and the page for each class will be linked below with their description.
If you have questions please contact the library during open hours or email childrens@wilsonvillelibrary.org
All other events are open, drop in and do not require registration.

Tuesday STEAM Discoveries, June 16th
Worm Bin Magic!
Presented by Rick Reynolds
Worms love food waste, so feed them yours and keep it out of the trash! Kids and their families can make worm bins that magically create rich soil in a small space. Investigate worms and other cool critters they live with, too! Led by Rick Reynolds, educator, science guy, and author of books including The EverGreen Twins Activity Book and Marco the Molecule. To start your own happy worm right away, families should bring used plastic bins of any size, such as 10-18 gallon colored RubberMaid-like tote that you don't need any more.

Wood Round Wonders!
with Artist, Elisa Mack
Paint with artist, Elisa Mack and create a botanical themed "wood round wonder" to decorate your garden or home. Elisa will provide step-by-step instructions using watercolors and paint pens.
For elementary age children and their grown-ups (younger siblings are welcome)

Tuesday STEAM Discoveries, June 30th
with Carl Winters, The Kalimba King
The ethereal, mysterious kalimba, a.k.a. the African thumb piano, is often misunderstood, misinterpreted and mistaken for being a museum piece or trinket. Carl Winters has developed an extensive songbook with the kalimba. His repertoire includes gospel, jazz, blues, rhythm and blues, pop, original songs while delivering a complete solo performance followed by Q & A with hands on opportunities for participants to play some of Carl's kalimbas!

Bee Amazed!
Presented by UofO Museum of Natural and Cultural History
Catch the buzz and be delighted as you zoom into the wonderful world of Oregon bees—we have over 500 different kinds! Discover mason bees, cuckoo bees, mining bees, longhorn bees, and, of course, honeybees. They are vital to our food supply and endlessly fascinating. Enjoy lots of hands-on science fun and buzz-worthy activities while exploring these mighty mini-beasts of nature.

Saddle Up : Hobby Horses
Saddle up your hobby horse and try our derby course! Practice your gates and jumps in our air conditioned arena!
A hobby horse will be provided if you don't have your own.

Science Classes : Float Your Boat!
Tuesday, July 28th

Preschool and Kindergarten engineers will experiment with sinking and floating objects then use their new knowledge to solve creative challenges.

Science Classes : Scales, Claws and Jaws
Wednesday, July 29th
Presented by OMSI
First, second and third grade kids slide, slither and hop into herpetology, the science of reptiles. We’ll get up close and personal with live snakes, lizards and turtles in order to study the features which make this class of animals unique.

Science Classes : Rollercoaster Madness
Thursday, July 30th
Presented by OMSI
Take your third, fourth or fifth grade kid on a wild ride with this workshop that lets them design and test their own marble coaster, complete with loops and jumps. Topics include engineering, design, and physics.
