Any substance entering a storm drain eventually enters the Willamette River.  Protect your local streams and river by reporting pollution.  Report stormwater pollution to:

Examples of what to report:

  • Someone dumping into a storm drain;
  • Soapy water entering a catch basin (residential car washing is allowed);
  • Restaurants dumping oil or grease into storm drains;
  • Motor oil, paint, or other contaminants on the street;
  • Leaking dumpsters;
  • Mobile businesses dumping wastewater into storm drains (ex. carpet cleaners); and
  • Chlorinated swimming pool water drained into the street.

Protect your River from pollution:

  • Scoop pet poop;
  • Use little to no fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides;
  • Wash your car at a commercial car wash or in your grass;
  • Plant and protect native trees and plants;
  • Keep your car properly maintained;
  • Don’t blow your grass clippings or yard debris into the street;
  • Walk, bike, or take public transit; and
  • Use phosphate-free and biodegradable cleansers for your car, home, and property.
