City Now Accepting Applications for Library Board and Tourism Promotion Committee

The City of Wilsonville is now accepting applications from community members to serve on the Library Board and also on the Tourism Promotion Committee.

The Library Board supports and assists the Library Director in all planning efforts and advises the City of budgetary and policy considerations relating to the Library’s operation and development.  Board members assist in monitoring the Library’s operations and services to the public; encouraging cost effectiveness; and periodically reviewing the Library’s policies, procedures, goals and objectives. The Library Board typically meets the fourth Wednesday, of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Wilsonville Public Library, 8200 SW Wilsonville Road. The term of the open Library Board position begins on July 1, 2017.

The City is also now accepting applications from representatives of the greater Wilsonville-area hospitality and tourism industry to fill a vacancy on the City’s Tourism Promotion Committee to complete the remaining term of Position No. 7 with the term ending June 30, 2018. The Committee is charged to implement the Wilsonville Tourism Development Strategy and oversee City-County tourism-development grant programs. The 12-member committee is composed of seven voting members who represent the greater Wilsonville-area hospitality and tourism industry and five non-voting members to provide advice and consultation to the committee. The Tourism Promotion Committee plans to meet on a monthly basis throughout 2017.

Persons interested in serving on either the Library Board or the Tourism Promotion Committee may pick up an application from Sandra King, City Recorder, at City Hall, 29799 SW Town Center Loop in Wilsonville, or may obtain an application online at www.ci.wilsonville.or.us/apply.

The application deadline for the Library Board position is May 31, 2017 and the opening on the Tourism Promotion Committee is open until filled.  Both positions are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council.
