City Recruiting Civic-Minded Community Members to Serve on City Boards and Commissions

October 6, 2021 — The City of Wilsonville is recruiting applicants who are interested in serving on City boards and commissions that provide guidance and oversight of City programs.

New terms begin in January 2022 for 10 open positions on four City boards. Volunteer members attend evening meetings (typically once a month) and assist in making policy recommendations to the City Council.

“Anyone passionate about contributing their expertise to help us sustain Wilsonville’s high quality of life should consider applying,” Wilsonville Mayor Julie Fitzgerald said. “We all benefit from the innovation and critical community oversight that engaged board members provide.”

Diversity within the City’s boards and commissions is critical to ensure that City policies and programs serve people of every race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion and ability.  People of all races, genders, ages and nationalities are encouraged to apply.

Positions to be filled include:

Qualified applicants are typically interviewed by Mayor Fitzgerald. Her recommended appointments must be confirmed by a majority vote of the City Council.

The application deadline, for new applicants as well as those seeking re-appointment, is Monday, Nov. 15, at 5 pm. Applications are available and may be completed online.

Community members with an interest in joining other boards which are not actively recruiting — including the Library Board, the Parks & Recreation Board, the Wilsonville-Metro Community Enhancement Committee, Tourism Promotion Committee and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee — may apply at any time to be considered for a future opening. Applications are kept for one year to be considered as positions become available.

Board service is one of many ways that volunteers improve the Wilsonville community, enhancing the City’s ability to serve residents, businesses and visitors. For more information on other volunteer opportunities, visit ci.wilsonville.or.us/volunteer.
