I-5 Bike/Ped Bridge Project
New bike/ped bridge over I-5 connects Wilsonville Town Center with Transit Center/WES Station features "Gateway Plaza" public gathering area. The I-5 Bike/Ped Bridge provides a more centralized, safe pedestrian and bike crossing over I-5 with a gateway plaza at its east landing in the Wilsonville Town Center. The new bridge will cross over Boones Ferry Road, Interstate 5, and Town Center Loop West, connecting Barber Street to the Wilsonville Town Center. This critical east/west connection directly links the Wilsonville Transit Center, the hub of Wilsonville’s transit system and south terminus of the WES commuter rail, and nearby employment areas and neighborhoods to Wilsonville’s Town Center commercial district and adjacent hi-tech employment centers and multi-family housing. The pedestrian bridge also provides a key connection between the proposed Emerald Chain, a greenway that meanders through Town Center, and Ice Age Tonquin regional trail system to the west of I-5. A gateway plaza at the east bridge landing will provide a gathering space and gateway into the Wilsonville Town Center. The bridge design will be highly visible to passing motorists, serving as a regional landmark in the heart of Wilsonville.

Bridge Design
Through the initial public outreach, the Wilsonville Community determined the pedestrian bridge design incorporate themes that reflect Wilsonville, including Harmony with Nature, Family Friendly, Willamette River/Boones Ferry, and Inclusive and Welcoming. The Tied Arch bridge design is clean and elegant, structurally impressive. Representative a stone skipping across water, the double arched bridge is a classic shape with a modern configuration, providing an iconic bridge design that will stand the test of time.
